The new Mark the Green Van

An overdue introduction of ourselves, as well as our goal with Mark the Green Van.

When I started this blog, I never formally introduced myself, Mark, or the blog. It’s time to correct that!

Hi! I’m Christina! Jeremy is my husband, Oreo is our cat, and Mark is our van. If you want to know more about why we chose van life, check out our very first post.

We started our van build with zero building experience and without doing any research. None. Not even one YouTube video. The beginning of the conversion kicked our asses! Build projects took longer than expected and required far more thought and planning than anticipated. Jeremy and I argued and fought over big things and little things. I felt like we bit off more than we could chew. At times, I wanted to give up and pay someone to finish Mark.

But we kept building. We persevered, got invaluable help from a friend, and learned from our mistakes. By the end, we gained real confidence in our abilities. Despite winging it, Mark is everything we dreamed of.

Building out our van turned into more than simply converting an empty cargo van into our home. It changed us. We want that change for you too.

This blog began as a rambling of our van life experience. We want it to be more than that. Taking the first step towards van life can be exciting yet daunting at the same time. Is van life right for me? What is it like living out of van? Where do I even start with a van conversion? These are the types of questions we hope to answer. We want to help you get from zero to van life.

Our goal is to publish new posts at least twice a week. If you don’t want to miss out on a post, subscribe to our newsletter below. Also, this blog is for you. If there’s anything you want us to write about, let us know!

I served 11 years in the Navy, and in 2014 I thru hiked the Appalachian Trail. These experiences helped prepare me for vanlife. My husband and I now live in our self-converted van, Mark.

About Us

We left “normal” life behind and now live in our self-converted van, Mark. Our time in the military and backpacking adventures made vanlife an easy choice. The leap into vanlife and a self-conversion can be exciting yet daunting. We want to share our experiences and provide resources to give you vanlife your way, and the highway.
